Why Eeveelutions Command Premium Prices

The Evolving Skies factor

Evolving Skies (August 2021) is the only modern English set to feature all eight Eeveelutions as Alternate Art cards — Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon, and Sylveon each received full-art treatment. The set became an instant collector favourite and is now one of the most sought-after modern sets to open or buy singles from. The Umbreon VMAX Alternate Art in particular reached near-legendary status, selling for $3,000–$4,000 at PSA 10 in the months after release.

The Gold Star rarity tier

POP Series 5 (2007) is one of the rarest Pokémon TCG sets ever produced — distributed only through organised play events at local Pokémon League locations. The set contained Gold Star versions of several Eeveelutions, most notably Espeon, Umbreon, and the earlier Vaporeon, Jolteon, and Flareon Gold Stars from the EX Team Rocket Returns era. These cards are effectively impossible to find in raw condition and near-impossible to find at PSA 10, which drives five-figure prices for the best examples.

Fan demand that doesn't fade

Eevee and its evolutions have been a defining part of the Pokémon franchise since Generation 1. As Generations added new evolutions (Espeon and Umbreon in Gen 2, Leafeon and Glaceon in Gen 4, Sylveon in Gen 6), the Eeveelution collective grew into one of the most beloved groups in all of Pokémon. That broad, multigenerational fan base means demand for high-quality Eeveelution cards shows no sign of fading.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the rarest Eeveelution card?
In terms of raw scarcity, the Gold Star Eeveelutions from POP Series 5 and earlier EX series sets are the rarest. Espeon Gold Star and Umbreon Gold Star from POP Series 5 have very small PSA 10 populations and regularly sell for $50,000–$80,000 at that grade. For modern cards, the Umbreon VMAX Alternate Art from Evolving Skies is the most expensive and desirable.
Which Eeveelution has the most valuable Pokémon cards?
Umbreon and Espeon consistently produce the most valuable Eeveelution cards at every era — both have Gold Stars from POP 5, both have high-value VMAX Alternate Arts from Evolving Skies, and both have GX cards that command solid premiums. For a deep dive on these two, see our Umbreon & Espeon card break page.
Can I sell my graded Eeveelution card on CatchaBreaks?
Yes. Any PSA or BGS graded Eeveelution card can be listed on CatchaBreaks. You set the card value, five collectors enter at 20% each, and when the break fills you receive one spot's payment as your fee. Learn how to list a card here.
What's the difference between Umbreon and Umbreon VMAX Alt Art?
Umbreon has appeared in dozens of Pokémon TCG sets across 25 years. The Umbreon VMAX Alternate Art specifically refers to card 215/203 from Evolving Skies — a Secret Rare numbered beyond the normal set total, featuring a distinctive cityscape night scene illustration. It's the most valuable Umbreon card in the modern era and one of the most valuable cards in the entire modern Pokémon TCG.
