Why Collectors Choose 1v1 Breaks

Instant draws
No waiting on 3-4 more people to join. Draw fires the moment Spot 2 is filled.
🎯
Better win odds
50% chance to win versus 20% in a 5-spot standard break. Same item, twice the probability.
🏆
No dilution
Only two participants. No one else splitting your potential prize. Pure competition.
🤝
Peer-to-peer
You're competing directly against one other collector — not a pool of five strangers.

What's Actually on the Line?

In a 1v1 break, both participants pay exactly half the item's listed value. The total paid (Spot 1 + Spot 2) equals the item price. One person wins the item and gets their half refunded. The other person's half goes to the seller. The seller receives fair market value, the winner receives the item at no cost, and the loser paid half the item's value for a 50% shot at owning it.

From a pure expected value perspective: if the item is fairly priced at market value, both entries have neutral EV (expected value). It's a fair coin flip for a collectible — the appeal is the chance to win something significant at half price risk.

  3. Claim a spot — Click Spot 1 or Spot 2 (whichever is open) and pay via PayPal.

  5. Winner gets refunded — If you won, your PayPal payment is refunded automatically. The seller ships your item.

1v1 vs Standard — Which Is Right for You?

Choose a 1v1 battle break if you want the best odds of winning an item outright and you're comfortable with the risk of no safety net. You're putting down half the item's value for a coin-flip chance to own it free.

Choose a standard break if you want risk mitigation. In a 5-spot break, 4 out of 5 participants pay nothing — 3 safe refunds plus the winner gets refunded too. The tradeoff is lower win odds (20%) and longer wait times.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I claim both spots in a 1v1 break?
No. Each account can only claim one spot per break. Battle breaks require two different verified accounts.
What if no one claims the second spot?
The break stays open. Your payment is a CAPTURE — if the break doesn't fill within the listing window, the capture is voided and you pay nothing. You're not charged unless the draw actually runs.
Is the draw provably fair?
Yes. CatchaBreaks uses a cryptographic random function for all draws. No admin can influence or replay a draw. Results are stored permanently.
How soon after the draw does shipping happen?
The winner's address is shared with the lister immediately after the draw. Most listers ship within 1-3 business days. You can message the lister directly via the in-platform chat.
